Lutkovno gledališče, kino, glasbena šola, knjižnica, galerija, podrobno predstavljen urni mehanizem, kolo in z njim povezana lučka, hiša tujih jezikov, kjer so izbrane slovenske besede in prevedene v jezik naših sosedov, so le ene izmed interaktivnih hišk, ki so jih raziskovali učenci 1. C razreda Osnovne šole Franca Rozmana – Staneta.

The most beautiful fence in town
Friends of Youth Association delighted its visitors and passers-by with a new disguise of the protective fence in the shape of 25 interesting houses.
The dilapidated fence, the renovation of the roof, and the falling plaster from the façade gave rise to a new idea of a protective fence, which was created in front of the entrance to the Friends of Youth Association Maribor. The concept of the houses was artistically designed by a talented volunteer, art pedagogue Šterlek Tamara, and she was assisted in the implementation by four other volunteers and employees; technical solutions were provided by janitor Darko Kmetec.
The production started in November last year, using recycled materials, and re-creating an extremely interesting image of 25 houses, 13 of which are interactive, thus beautifying the entrance to the building where many workshops for children and adolescents take place.
Puppet theater, cinema, music school, library, gallery, detailed clock mechanism, a bicycle with related lamp, house of languages, where Slovene words are selected and translated into the language of our neighbors, are just one of the interactive houses researched by students of the 1st C class of the Franc Rozman – Stane Elementary School. Among other things, they researched the museum and personalities associated with Maribor, and also wrote interesting secrets and put them in the »Box for Secrets«, which is located on one of the houses.
Friends of Youth Association is a non-governmental, voluntary, humanitarian and non-profitable organisation. The Association was founded in 1953 and during this time it has become an indispensable part of the contemporary civil society. It deals with social issues, which concern children, youth and families. Its basic goal is to raise quality of children, youth and family life, to protect their respective interests and needs as well as their rights.
There is also a library. »Passers-by can borrow books, and they can also bring books that they no longer need,« says Tadeja Dobaj, coordinator of activities at the Friends of Youth Association.
The houses, which already adorned the entrance in front of the building in January, have now been given a final and finished look with interactive elements, thus bringing playfulness in addition to functionality.
