Brezčasne zgodbice Beatrix Potter

***

[Slovenian above|English below]

Helen Beatrix Potter (1866 -1943) extraordinary woman, a researcher, an artist who give animals the human features and unite the human and animal world through fairy tales and opened the door to children’s imagination. She lived in a time where women are faced with major restrictions and prohibitions in terms of creative business and scientific fields. However, creativity in her has found its way. Her first published story Tale of Peter Rabbit opened the door and was followed by 23 wonderful timeless stories from an animal kingdom that are still sold today in large numbers like one million copies per year and bring the enjoyment to children and adults. And the thing I found very interesting is, that that stories about animal world helped her not only to be independent but also to protected area of Lake District in the time, where land was being sold and planned for different sorts of destruction. So, by buying the land, she protected the beautiful landscape from destruction and therefore she is the responsible beneficial that the Lake District is now a national park. Her life is wonderfully staged in the film Miss Potter, which you can see at the link above while taking a look at her original illustrations of Peter Rabbit. At the end, there is one of hers fairy tales that as a child I was listening on the radio, but it is in a Slovenian language, so it may be fun to listen.

Kot otrok sem uživala ob pravlicah »Lahko noč, otroci!«, ki so jih predvajali vsak večer po radiu in če želiš obuditi otroški svet, prisluhni pravljici o Petru Zajcu.
